TRAINING SESSION 1: SA-GEO Knowledge Hub
Welcome and overview of the training programme. Introduction to the SA-GEO Knowledge Hub (SA-GKH) and the GEO Knowledge Hub, and the Marketplace, including their purpose, value proposition, and role in improving access to Earth observation and space-related knowledge. Participants will explore the concepts of open knowledge, community contribution, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.

TRAINING SESSION 2: Creating and Publishing Knowledge Packages
Interactive practical session demonstrating how to create, structure, and publish Knowledge Packages. Participants will explore metadata requirements, quality considerations, knowledge resources, and methods for contributing content to the SA-GEO Knowledge Hub.

SESSION 3: Leveraging AI and Self-Assessment Tools for Knowledge Development
Practical session on the use of self-assessment tools and artificial intelligence to support knowledge package development, content enhancement, knowledge discovery, and community contributions. Participants will apply the tools in developing sample knowledge resources for publication on the Hub.

Reflection on lessons learned, participant feedback, opportunities for contribution as knowledge providers, and next steps for sustaining engagement within the SA-GEO Knowledge Hub community.

SESSION 1: Opening Session
Welcome and opening remarks. Overview of workshop objectives and expected outcomes. Introduction of newly appointed Co-Chairs and reflection on the role of Communities of Practice in strengthening national coordination, collaboration, and uptake of Earth observation and space-derived information.

SESSION 2: Communities of Practice Strategic Planning and Alignment
The Communities of Practice (CoPs) will present their draft strategic frameworks, including their overall context, vision, and strategic goals. Presentations will outline key objectives, priority application areas and intervention domains, as well as the expected outcomes and impact sought through their activities. The session will further explore opportunities for collaboration across CoPs, highlighting areas of convergence, shared priorities, and potential joint initiatives.

Summary and closing remarks

The workshop will highlight progress on the SAGEO Knowledge Hub, South Africa’s national platform for EO data access, knowledge exchange, and collaboration. It will also present the findings of the EO Maturity Indicator (EOMI) process, which assessed the country’s EO capabilities across technical infrastructure, data availability, user engagement, and policy frameworks.
